ONF Sets New Career High With ‘ONF: MY SELF Part.2’ and ‘Open The Door’

ONF is heading to a new milestone as all the members have shifted to a new agency and they have recently released their second full-length album, ‘ONF: MY SELF Part.2’ which includes 6 tracks including the title song ‘Open The Door’ as they celebrate their first album after they have left WM Entertainment. All the fans including the industry insiders have been keenly waiting for this comeback of ONF as it represents a new chapter of the group’s life.

The album title track “Open The Door” expresses the emotions before the unknown future. The song is very powerful and contains a wide range of vocals. Other songs such as “Bad Dream” expresses freedom in a dream through Afro-pop rhythm and dreamy synth sounds. “Escape” is a song that search for one’s identity through Complextro sound. “Mirage” is a song that ONF performed at ONF solo concert “ONF: MY SELF Part.1” on May 31 & 31, 2019 at Blue Square in Munich. “Silver Lining” is a song expressing hope to ONF and FUSE members. “Once In a Red Moon” is a very powerful song and it’s a prelude to ONF’s future.

There was also great participation from the ONF members, with leader Seungjun participating in planning the overall story of the album. Member Yuto acted as the performance director, with Wyatt and Minkyun contributing to the composition and lyrics of the tracks. Longtime producer Hwang Hyun was also in participation for this album as well. During the COMEBACK SHOWCASE of ‘Open The Door’ on June 17, producer Hwang Hyun read out anonymous messages of support for the members and praised their sincerity in creating this album. After the showcase, ONF also performed all 5 songs from the album and revealed the behind the scenes of how they prepared for each song. The members showed great passion and Yuto revealed that he had been crying while listening to the guide version of ‘Open The Door’ because he was worried about the future of the group, but the support of his fellow members gave him the courage to carry on performing and complete the album.

Also during the show, members seemed tearful throughout, especially Yuto and E-Tion when talking about their fans, FUSE and explaining how this comeback is so special to them since it has been long and uncertain. The group celebrated with their fans at the Cube Convention Center in Sangam, Seoul during the special ONF COMEBACK SHOWCASE ‘Open The Door’ on June 18 – 20. At the event Hyojin commented that they will continue performing in large spaces of concert halls, and it’s good to see the ONF name going up on the music charts. The support of their fans will surely enable ONF to reach their goals.

ONF was busy calculating the numbers of their comeback. The group recorded the highest first-day sales of 55,593 copies on Hanteo Chart. In addition, ‘Open The Door’ topped the Bugs real-time chart at midnight of June 17 and ranked 11th on the daily chart. The song also ranked 28th on the Melon TOP 100 daily chart. The music video of title song ‘Open The Door’ also gained a lot of attention and recorded over 2.64 million views as of 8 PM of June 19.
