(Exclusive) I-DLE’s 9th mini album “We Made” Out Now Globally!

I-DLE’s We Made Album is getting recognition from the 5 members, Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua, for its creative take on many genres. This album is receiving recognition from audiences all over the globe outside of Korea.

Critics Praise Genre-Spanning Sound

First off, Euphoria have reviewed I-DLE’s We Made album in full, commenting that the mini album is a marker of a new creative period for the group. Within the album, the members showcase a much broader sound and have incorporated a variety of genres.


Each track shows off a variety of genres including hip-hop, K-pop, bubblegum, rap, soul, soft rock, and ballads. The British publication took special notice of the title track, “Gimme Dat Love,” and praised the track’s unique whistling and the group’s powerful vocal performance in the catchy chorus.

The other tracks which received recognition are “Morning” and “Love Is Pain”.

  • "Morning" - I-DLE is a high-energy B-side composed of highly prominent synth sounds.
  • "Love Is Pain" - Another track that Euphoria gave its praise to. Written and composed by Yuqi, the song represents the pain that one feels during the ending of a relationship. The song has shown that (G)I-DLE is showing more development as artists and it is proven in this track.

Adding more value to their album is the fact that there are several tracks written and composed by I-DLE members themselves. These are a part of the group’s track record of writing and composing music since their debut in 2018 under Cube Entertainment.

Producers Share Their Reactions

There are also reviews from the international producers that have collaborated with the I-DLE We Made album. One of the producers was Samantha Camara. She had worked with artist such as Kenia OS, Nicky Jam and Danna before. Samantha Camara stated that she wanted to work with I-DLE for years, and it was amazing to finally have the chance to collaborate with the K-pop group. Camara had been a fan of (G)I-DLE since 2018 and couldn’t believe that she was working with the group. The producer stated that it was an honor to have worked with the talented group of women.


Producer Alyx, also known as ALEX COX (for the Chinese Market) said it was an honor to work with the group and that I-DLE “challenges conventional ways of thinking within the boundaries of music” and expressed pride to have been able to work with a diverse group of people from all over the world. Alyx previously worked on “Tomboy” by 4Minute.

Background and Context

(Although members of I-DLE have also written and composed tracks within the group, much of the creative lead on the band’s earlier work have been taken by Soyeon, who also contributed to the lyrics and composition to several of the B-sides on We Made. “Love Is Pain” is thus the second track to be written by Yuqi, and her contribution to the album in addition to that of her fellow members serves to add to the group’s well established history of involving each member in writing and producing material for the group’s releases.

In addition, the history of I-DLE’s songwriting and production can be seen in We Made. Many songs on the album were written and composed by the members, such as seen in Soyeon taking the lead on several tracks. Yuqi also wrote and composed “Love Is Pain,” the ballad for the ending of a relationship.

Why It Matters

I-DLE’s We Made album is gaining international recognition. K-pop is creating global waves as many international producers are collaborating with many K-pop groups to create many creative and different pop music. The We Made album shows that I-DLE is becoming more recognized globally, receiving many good reviews by critics around the world.

Meanwhile, fans are falling in love with the upbeat track, “Gimme Dat Love,” which contains whistling elements and showcases the vocal strength of the five member group. The song is perfect for the new season and expresses the innocence of those who are experiencing their first love.

In the near future, I-DLE will perform at Lollapalooza, held in late April in Chicago, the US. The upcoming performance is expected to help the group to reach to debut new songs and reach fans who mostly speak in English at one of the world’s most famous festivals, where many different genres of music and performers from all over the world gather.

I-DLE will continue promoting the album with upcoming appearances on various music shows and more in the coming weeks and months. The members will be performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago, USA this summer, where they will be performing for an English speaking audience and performing for a massive crowd of fans on one of the world’s most recognized stages for music.

The I-DLE We Made album is getting recognition from fans worldwide and as the group delves deeper into the project, it is becoming apparent that the release will enhance the K-pop group’s international status greatly.
